Every year, we try to go away on a family vacation the first week I have off from work. Kyle waits until after July 4th to start soccer practice and tournaments, so this is a perfect time to get away and discover something new.
This year, we decided to head to Colorado for a change of scenery and to discover something new. There is so much to see and do in Colorado that we had to choose a "home base" and a handful of priorities. After researching some highlights, we chose Colorado Springs and did day trips from there. It was almost like a road trip vacation because we did a lot of driving. But it was worth it for off-the-beaten-path hikes and getting wet on the river. In the end, Kyle said the trip was a blast. We were both pleasantly surprised we liked our last stop so much that we are even considering buying a property there.
So, get ready for several posts with a lot of "Colorful Colorado" scenery starting with the view of Pike's Peak from our hotel room window.
