Rolling along

This morning, we volunteered with Elves and More again.  This non-profit organization builds 1,500 bikes each year a couple of weeks before Christmas.  Over 500 volunteers show up at a designated warehouse and work all morning to unpack, build bikes, put air in tires, label the bikes, and line them up to be delivered next week.

They have everything from the tiniest scoot-along bikes up to 26-inch cruisers which will be brought to a secret location that is known for a high level of poverty.  Kyle's soccer team has been volunteering for most of the 10 years Elves and More had existed.  Grace and I have joined the last four years, and recently, our friends have come too!  It is always fun to see Dawson and Karli.  The girls are so busy with school and their own activities, that we don't get together as much as we did when they were little. I love how they just pick up where they left off without missing a beat!

The girls were a great help.  They helped build a couple of bikes and then spent a lot of time riding them (ahem...to make sure they were safely built, of course) to their storage location in the warehouse.
