Deck the Halls

The Seiberling Family, owners of Stan Hywet Hall, are about as close as anyone in Akron, Ohio has ever come to being American "royalty".  Each time we visit the mansion and gardens, I wonder what life must have been like to actually live there. (All photos were taken with my iPhone.)

The family moved in in 1915, 100 years ago, on Christmas Day. Tonight, Grace and her friend, Camryn, went with me to see their annual "Deck the Halls" event with the gardens and manor house decorated and open to visitors.

I love how they are walking together.  Skipping, actually.

The children's garden was transformed into a Gingerbread Garden.  It was so colorful and inviting!

Grace pretended to eat the gingerbread girl!

In the conservatory, the girls had fun with some speech bubbles.  This turned into a conversation about graphic novels.  I never really liked them, but Cami seems to be a fan.

There they go again!

We stopped to see this window display depicting downtown Akron in the 1920s with a replica blimp and a flatiron building. You can see Santa's sleigh flying across the full moon.
